A living heritage is not only inherited. It is continually practised, remembered, adapted, and shared.
Introduction
Divya India Foundation is a cultural and research-oriented institution dedicated to India’s living heritage.
We work with communities, practitioners, researchers, and institutions to discover, document, preserve, and promote the knowledge systems, creative practices, and cultural traditions that continue to shape everyday life across India.
Our work extends across handloom and craft, food and material culture, arts and performance, spiritual traditions, and other community-rooted practices. We approach heritage not as something frozen in the past, but as a living body of knowledge carried by people and renewed across generations.
Our purpose
The Foundation exists to make India’s diverse cultural knowledge more visible, accessible, respected, and meaningfully connected to the future.
Our work begins with listening and learning. It develops through documentation, collaboration, and responsible representation. It seeks to create conditions in which communities and practitioners receive recognition, dignity, opportunity, and support.
